3 Day Courses

As a Licensed Instructor for the Institute of Applied Equine Podiatry (IAEP) I am currently running a series of short courses in the UK. The three day program is designed to give equine professionals and horse owners a thorough introduction to the science of Applied Equine Podiatry.

The teaching style is fully interactive with a relaxed atmosphere conducive to learning. The three day course also counts as credit to the full time Diploma qualification offered by the IAEP should you decide to continue your studies.

Finalise course paper work; Introductions; Begin interactive lecture on The Suspension Theory of Hoof Dynamics, the Science of Applied Equine Podiatry, and Functional Anatomy of the Equine Foot. In the afternoon there is a continuation of the interactive lecture, including coverage of The HPT Model, The HPT Method, and the Spectrum of Usability.

Functional anatomy of the Equine Distal Limb explained and demonstrated through dissection. Preparation of cadaver feet for trimming; Student application of the Spectrum of Usability to evaluate cadaver feet; Tool distribution and initial discussion of tool safety and correct tool use.

Step-by-step explanation and interactive demonstration of correct tool use in preparation for applying the HPT Method. Student application of the HPT Method to cadaver feet, with explanation and discussion of environmental influences on the equine foot.

Tuition for 3 Day Course: $375.00

Deposit: $150 with the balance paid 60 days prior to the course date.

This price includes tools worth $82.50 specifically designed and selected to suit the application of the HPT Method. You will receive a KC Brand Hoof Knife, Save Edge Rasp, Sharpie Marker and a Belotta Rasp Handle.

The IAEP's courses are approved under the Register of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) for the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB).
