Applied Equine Podiatrist & IAEP Licensed Instructor
On Thursday 13th October KC La Pierre lectured to a capacity crowd at the Oxfordshire BHS AGM in Nettlebed, Oxfordshire; he was introduced by Lee Hackett, Chief Welfare Officer for the BHS. The subject was "Nearing the Tipping Point" and the event was a resounding success. KC began by describing in detail both the need for, and the nature of, Applied Equine Podiatry (AEP). He drew a strong distinction between AEP, Farriery and Barefoot trimming, going on to define the differences in detail with focus primarily on the capacity of the soft tissues within the horses' foot to utilise energy correctly if the structures are allowed to distort correctly. By the end of the evening there was very little room for doubt regarding the effectiveness and legitamacy of this new exciting science.
On Friday 14th October KC La Pierre lectured at the University of Chichester, the subject was "Exercising to a Healthy Hoof". The audience were treated to an excellent lecture with focus on the need for correct pressure stimulus via the frog and frog spine to aid correct development of the internal arch, especially development of the heels through correct movement within the capacity of the individual horse. It was an enlightening evening enjoyed by all.
I would like to extend my personal thanks to all who worked tirelessly to make these events a success, with very special thanks to KC and Robyn La Pierre.
